In the ever-evolving digital age, where the internet plays a central role in shaping our lives, ensuring cyber safety is no longer optional—it’s essential. With this understanding, Gajera Vidyabhavan, Sachin, took a proactive step towards educating young minds by organizing a Cyber Crime Awareness Seminar titled “Nurture the Future” on Friday, 25th July 2025 for the secondary section students.
The seminar was conducted in collaboration with the Crime Branch, Surat, and focused on building awareness around the safe use of the internet, especially among teenagers who are highly active on digital platforms. The event aimed to prepare students to navigate the online world with caution, responsibility, and awareness of legal implications.
The school was privileged to welcome K. Mini Joseph, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, Surat, as the chief guest and keynote speaker for the day. Joining her was Mrs. Devilaben Mistry, an activist from the Surat City Mahila Suraksha Samiti, who brought her valuable social perspectives to the session.
With her extensive field experience in tackling cybercrime, Mrs. Joseph delivered a highly engaging and informative session. She spoke about the rising threats in cyberspace, particularly targeting teenagers—ranging from identity theft and online scams to cyberbullying and misuse of personal information. Emphasizing the importance of digital hygiene, she urged students to think before they click, never share personal data online, and be cautious about the content they consume and share.
What made the seminar particularly impactful were the real-life examples and case studies presented by K. Joseph. These incidents made students aware of the consequences of irresponsible digital behaviour and the harsh reality of cyber threats. She also guided them on how to report cybercrime and shared tips for staying safe on various digital platforms.
The session concluded with a lively Q&A round, where students posed thoughtful questions, all of which were answered patiently and insightfully by the speakers. This interactive exchange helped deepen the students’ understanding and resolve their doubts in a meaningful way.
The seminar was a wake-up call and an eye-opener for many. It reminded everyone that while the digital world offers endless possibilities, it also comes with risks that must be understood and respected. Gajera Vidyabhavan Sachin initiative to foster cyber awareness through such sessions demonstrates its commitment to nurturing responsible, informed, and secure digital citizens of tomorrow.
